Peter Hourie

Peter’s excitement for photography first flashed into existence at age 10, with the gift of a Roy Rogers box camera. Further development was inhibited by the cost of film processing, so it lay dormant until Expo 86 in Vancouver. That was an occasion which demanded the purchase of a Canon SLR and 43 separate photo excursions to the Expo site! However, his interest was unfocused and soon faded like a sun-soaked print. It wasn’t until 2003, after several years of exposure to a passionate shutterbug, the purchase of a new digital camera, and a trip to Butterfly World on Vancouver Island combined like perfectly synced lighting to not only rekindle his interest, but to fan it into a passion. Peter is currently a member of the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA) where he continues to sharpen his focus, increase his depth of field, and broaden his exposure to the incredible world of photography.
